A whisper of the Victorian past, in the colours of the Scottish landscape.
Inspired by the long, elegant coats and fitted silhouettes of the Victorian era, this design captures the romance of nineteenth-century country dress while remaining firmly rooted in modern life.
The softly faded grey-blue tweed was chosen to echo the colours of the Scottish landscape — misty skies, distant hills and winter light. The defined waist, long line and back split give the coat the graceful proportions of a Victorian silhouette, while the simplicity of the design keeps it beautifully understated.

Caring for Your Delaford Jacket
Tweed is a wonderfully resilient natural cloth, and with gentle care, your Delaford jacket should become a companion for many years.
Air rather than wash
Wool tweed rarely needs frequent cleaning. After wearing, allow your jacket to air naturally before returning it to your wardrobe.Spot clean
For small marks, gently dab with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid rubbing, which can disturb the surface of the tweed.Cleaning
When a deeper clean is needed, we recommend professional dry cleaning by a cleaner experienced in caring for wool garments. Always point out that the jacket has a natural cotton lining.Pressing
If needed, press gently on the reverse side using a cool-to-warm iron and a pressing cloth. Avoid pressing directly onto the tweed.Storing
Store on a good-quality, shaped hanger in a cool, dry place. Give the jacket room to breathe and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.Repair rather than replace
Small signs of a life well lived can often be repaired. If your Delaford needs attention, we'd much rather see it returned to the studio than see it discarded. -
Materials & Details
Outer: Our rare breed wool tweed, woven from wool from our flock.
Lining: 100% cotton Silesia, chosen as a natural, durable alternative to synthetic satin.
Shoulder pads: Cotton.
Interlining: Sew-in cotton interlinings.
Fastening: Separating zip.
Natural fibres, thoughtfully chosen, with every element considered for a long life.
We are moving away from synthetic satin linings and choosing a heavier-weight 100% cotton Silesia lining for our garments.
Using natural fibres throughout the jacket makes the garment simpler to repair, reuse and, at the end of its long life, recycle. It is a small design decision, but one that reflects our belief that beautiful clothing should be considered from its first life to its last.

Handknitted & made to order
Every Goatherdess knitted piece is handknitted to order.. This means your jacket is made especially for you, rather than taken from a stock of ready-made garments.
Handknitting is a slow process, and each piece takes many hours to create and carefully finish. Small variations in the texture and character of the wool are part of what makes a handknitted garment unique.
Please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery.
Your jacket will be made especially for you, with the time and care that handmade work deserves. We believe clothing made this way is worth waiting for — a piece to wear, live in and cherish for years to come.
