  • A bow borrowed from another time.

    The softly tied bow at the neck takes its inspiration from the ribbons of the bonnets worn by women in the Austen and Brontë era. Rather than a formal, perfectly tied bow, we imagined the loose ribbon of a bonnet resting beneath the chin — feminine, relaxed and slightly romantic.

    Reimagined in wool, the ribbon becomes part of the cardigan itself: a small detail connecting a contemporary garment with the quiet elegance of another age.

  • Caring for your Goatherdess wool jacket

    Wool is naturally resilient and requires very little washing. Allowing the fibres to breathe between wears is often all that is needed.

    • Air after wearing — hang or lay flat somewhere well ventilated and allow the wool to breathe.

    • Spot clean where needed — gently dab marks with cool water rather than washing the whole garment.

    • Hand wash only if necessary — use cool water and a small amount of gentle wool detergent. Do not rub, wring or agitate, as this can cause the wool to felt or lose its shape.

    • Rinse gently in cool water and press out excess water without twisting.

    • Dry flat, reshaping the jacket carefully while damp. Keep away from direct heat and radiators.

    • Store folded rather than hanging for long periods to help preserve the shape of the knitted peplum.

    Every Goatherdess knitted piece is handknitted to order.. This means your jacket is made especially for you, rather than taken from a stock of ready-made garments.

    Handknitting is a slow process, and each piece takes many hours to create and carefully finish. Small variations in the texture and character of the wool are part of what makes a handknitted garment unique.

    Please allow 4–6 weeks for delivery.
